Polar Bears are the Most Photographed Marine Animal, according to Instagram

Sustainable travel enterprise Positive Travel has ranked the most popular marine animals according to Instagram, by analysing how many times every marine animal had been hashtagged on the photo sharing network.

Coming out on the top spot is polar bears with a whopping 1.3 million posts on Instagram. In second place its orcas with 691k posts, while whale sharks came in third with 541k posts.

Marine life makes up 50-80% of all living creatures in the world, and that’s why Positive Travel are on a mission to help encourage everyone to conserve and care for our fascinating sea creatures. They decided to crunch some numbers and find out some of the most beloved sea animals of all, to remind everyone how important it is that we continue to protect these species. They took to Instagram and analysed how often over 300 different marine animals had been hashtagged on the photo-sharing site, to determine which are the most popular marine animals of all.
